Manako Amano (Yasuko Matsuyuki) is a professor in the engineering department of a top university. She currently researches the act of failure. The study is to determine direct reasons and social factors for failure and how to avoid having the same end result. Her research related to failure, leads her to various other fields like corporate corruption and medical malpractice. Using her research on failure, she solves mysteries involving various accidents.
