新宿・花園界隈の路地裏に、マスター1人で切り盛りする小さなめしやがある。深夜0時から朝の7時頃までの営業で、のれんには単に「めしや」と書かれているが、常連客からは「深夜食堂」と呼ばれている。メニューは豚汁定食、ビール、酒、焼酎しかないが、マスターが出来るものなら言えば何でも作ってくれる。深夜しか営業していないこの店を舞台に、マスターと客たちとの交流を描く。
