When Harry is sentenced to federal prison, he's determined to get out just as soon as he can. He cleverly avoids the brutalities of his fellow inmates and manages to charm even the meanest of cons with his practical jokes. His efforts convince an attractive social worker to recommend him for early release, but not before he has an opportunity to confront Thigpen, the head prison guard and his one enemy.
