Condotto in una prima fase da Alba Parietti, e percorso dal situazionismo di un nutrito cast (Maurizio Ferrini, Sabrina Impacciatore, Biagio Izzo, Paola Cortellesi e tanti altri), "Macao" andò in onda su Rai2 dal marzo del 1997 fino a fine gennaio del 1998.
