心に傷を負った女子中学生・上村琴音は、怒鳴り声のような奇声を耳にする。それが隣室に住む素性の知れない初老の男・阿久津勇（内野聖陽）の声と知り、不審に思う琴音。 ある日、外に出た阿久津の後を追った琴音は公園で彼を見つけ、奇声を発していた理由を知り、彼に興味を持つことで「トーラスシアター」という市民劇団に出会う。 劇団の演出家・小巻沢梨子、とある老人の孫のフリをする青年・竹之内駿介、突然解雇を言い渡された独身女性・太田千鹿子、かつて受けたパワハラで心に傷がある女性・三橋芳子、ある一大決心をする年配女性・太田紀江。それぞれの悩みを抱える人々との出会いから大切な何かに気づき、自身の問題とも向き合うことになる琴音。 やがて謎多き男・阿久津の探し続ける女性、そしてひた隠しにする過去が明らかになり……。 人生を見つめ直す人々の物語と共に進む劇団トーラスシアターの「リア王」の稽古。そして舞台の幕が上がる日が訪れる――！
