‘귀왕’은 인간을 파멸시키기 위해 악귀 군단을 이끄는 혼세마왕이 지옥에서 부활하면서 벌어지는 판타지 사극이다. 주인공 차우영은 귀신을 수집하며 귀신장터를 운영한다. 새 사건 의뢰 도중 900년 전 봉인된 혼세마왕을 부활시키려는 무리에 당하게 되고, 이에 맞서고자 도깨비왕 김만수와 손을 잡는다. 생계 유지로 목숨 건 사투를 시작한 두 사람이 혼세마왕에 맞서며 세계의 질서까지 지켜내는 대서사가 '귀왕'에서 시작된다.
