1940年上海，丁一和顾仰山——一个是龙套演员，为生计做眼盲密码专家李约瑟的替身；一个是军统特工，将李约瑟误杀后，雇佣丁一继续冒充他，自己则扮作“助手”。他们在潮声剧团老板冼碧云的帮助下，潜伏进日军情报机构，破坏日军密码系统及其更新。身份背景完全不同的二人，历经重重考验后，结成生死之交。而前行路上的不同立场，让这对兄弟即将面临重大的人生考验……
