画家丁亦明与舞蹈家何俪因相爱结婚，生下女儿丁小寒。英国一家知名的舞团在得知何俪拥有天赋的舞蹈才华之后，邀请她前往英伦学习深造。何俪为了追求更高的舞蹈境界，抛下丈夫与三岁的女儿，只身前往英伦深造并在异乡生下女儿何菲。十八年后，丁亦明依然是个不得志的画家，与爸爸相依为命的小寒在中学毕业后，虽以优异的成绩考入一所名牌大学，却在一年后主动退学，因为她被检查出患有一种慢性的眼疾。何菲虽出生于英国，但在10岁时被母亲送回北京寄宿学校学习舞蹈。丁小寒与何菲同时爱上了富家公子杨睿，而杨睿却徘徊其中。歌舞剧《杜兰朵公主》选了何菲为该剧的女主角，但在演出的前夕，何菲胃疾复发，难登舞台。演出单位赶忙找来候补人选小寒参加演出。小寒意外的登上这壮丽的舞台，且准备要一鸣惊人时，她却发现她的视力模糊了，即将失明。最后何俪歌舞剧归国，找到女儿和丈夫，最后一家人团圆了。
