故事圍繞著上海童馨兒童醫院展開，藉由數宗病例探討醫患關係、職場甘苦，並延伸出家庭倫理等相關社會議題。本劇除了體現兒科醫療資源稀缺，也映照出兒科醫生的艱辛及偉大。 主角焦佳人（王子文飾）來自雲南麗江，在一場大地震中被谷院長救援倖存下來，從而立志當一個兒科醫生；鄧子昂（陳曉飾）在一個缺愛的童年中成長，唯一讓他倍感溫暖的是谷院長一家人的陪伴，也堅定兒科醫生的志願。兩人於童馨醫院相遇，從師徒關係逐漸發展為情侶關係，彼此相互治癒，並肩作戰，本於「偶爾是治癒，常常是幫助，總是在安慰」的醫療初心，將兒科醫生的志業發揚光大。
