Where Shouf Shouf Habibi! also had a dramatic side, the emphasis is in Shouf Shouf! especially on the humor. The group of friends consisting of Ap, Rachid, Mussi and Robbie is central; every episode they get into trouble again because they play a part. Aps brother Driss and mother Khadija also regularly appear in the series. Sister Leila (Touriya Haoud) and brother Samir (Najib Amhali) from Shouf Shouf Habibi! do not appear in the series, instead a kind of "spiritual successors" are introduced. In Samira Saleh, who regularly meets with Ap and the others, many of Leila's rebellious and liberal traits can be recognized. And cousin Karim is, just like Samir, a fully Dutchized Moroccan and police officer. Another new character is neighbor Henk Boerman, an incorrigible racist. Just like in Shouf Shouf Habibi! be in Shouf Shouf! the cultural differences between Dutch and Moroccans have been tackled and both have to suffer.
